Muni Crosses a Major Ridership Milestone By Madhu Unnikrishnan Muni ridership set records last month – including on the T Third. On the average weekday in September, more than half a million people rode Muni. This is the highest average weekday ridership since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, and a major milestone. We saw 521,000 average weekday trips in September. That’s 37,000 more daily riders than in September 2023. Why We're Introducing Speed Safety Cameras – a First for California By Rebecca Ashton-Dziedzan Geary Boulevard is one corridor set to see speed safety cameras as part of our new pilot program. Speed safety cameras are a proven tool to curb dangerous speeding and save lives. Now, we can move forward with our plans to pilot them in San Francisco. This week, the SFMTA Board of Directors approved our contract with Verra Mobility to implement speed cameras. It was our last administrative hurdle to launch a pilot program. The Muni family is proud to introduce two of its newest cable car grips: Chanelle Smith and Annie Washington. Earning the right to operate a cable car is challenging.
